THE ROCKET - STRIKING & CATCHING CHALLENGES
Who needs P.E. equipment when you can do a whole lesson with striking and catching with just a paper towel tube!! Go ahead ...ask your grown-up to save you a paper towel tube rather than recycle it at the end of the week. Give this lesson a try. Try it along with the instructor. Check out his challenge. Then, try the challenge yourself. If you get stuck on one of the parts of the lesson - that's okay. Work on that part ...then, come back when you're ready and move onto the next component of the challenge. One minute on the clock! There is a timer already worked into this game. READY - SET - GO!!!!

Lesson Modification: If you think the paper towel roll is getting too easy for you, try a toilet paper roll instead! Good luck!!

Be sure to have your water bottle handy! Listen to your body and take breaks and drink water when you need it.

HEALTH LESSON: Grades K-5:
FIVE FOOD GROUPS AND PORTION SIZES

Since we are all spending a lot of time in our homes, it's important that we are aware of the foods and drinks we are putting into our bodies each and everyday. We learned in last week's Health lesson about healthy and not-so-healthy fats, and why it's so important to know the difference between fats that fuel your body versus fats that aren't healthy for your body.

Watch this short video from Ilaria St. Florian, MS, RD. Miss Ilaria is the Manager of the KIDS' FANS nutrition program that is offered to our 3rd graders each year at all of the Stamford Public Schools. She is graciously offering additional health lessons in the form of short videos to all of our students during our Distance Learning time. This video is all about the Five Food Groups and Portion Sizes. Listen to this neat video and learn more about the food groups and how important portion sizes are to help empower your mind and body!

Remember to log your activities and minutes into your Weekly P.E. Activity & Health Log and submit it to Mrs. Spinner and Mrs. Iacono no later than 3:00 p.m. on Friday!
